A Practical Gold Coast Project-Handover Checklist
A useful handover gives the next person enough information to operate, maintain and review the completed work without reconstructing the entire project history.
Confirm the agreed scope
Compare the completed work with the latest approved scope and record any exclusions, substitutions or agreed variations. The handover should clearly distinguish finished items from work that remains outstanding.
Photographs and dated inspection notes can provide helpful context, but they should be organised and labelled rather than delivered as an unexplained folder of files.
Organise documents and responsibilities
Collect relevant manuals, warranties, approvals, supplier details and maintenance information. Assign an owner and due date to each outstanding action so responsibility does not become ambiguous after the formal handover.
Safety-sensitive or regulated work should be documented by the appropriately qualified party.
Schedule a post-handover review
A short follow-up review allows the parties to check that documents were received, systems are understood and agreed defects or outstanding items have been addressed.
